WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Physiotherapy is a treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of your mobility, function, and well-being. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness.

 

A customized physiotherapy program can help you return to your prior level of function, and encourage activities and lifestyle changes that can help prevent further injury and improve overall health and well being. Primary care doctors often refer patients to physiotherapy at the first sign of a problem, since it is considered a conservative approach to managing problem.

WHAT CAN PHYSIOTHERAPY TREAT?

  • Pre-post surgical recovery

  • fracture recovery

  • postural problems

  • tendonitis

  • arthritis

  • neck, shoulder, arm, back, leg and foot pain

  • TMJ

  • joint pain and immobility

  • neurological conditions such as sciatica and neuropathy

WHAT ARE PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENTS?

 Treatments may include one or more of the following:

  • Manual therapy to mobilize joint or soft tissue

  • Ultrasound for therapeutic healing and pain control

  • TENS/IFC for pain control or biofeedback

  • Acupuncture and electro acupuncture for pain control and therapeutic healing

  • Cupping for mobilization and pain control

  • Tapping for stabilization, off-loading, edema or scar cont

  • Light therapy for healing and pain

  • Gait aid and bracing education

  • Exercise prescription

  • Falls prevention exercises
